This managerial brief summarizes an October 14th webinar hosted by Fire Adapted Colorado and the Southern Rockies Fire Science Network entitled, Post-Fire Planning “By the Book”: Strategies for Landscape and Social Response. This webinar featured guest speakers highlighting important aspects of post-fire planning for improved response and recovery following the occurrence of disastrous wildfire events within communities. One guest speaker was Kate Dunlap of Boulder Water introducing Colorado’s Post Fire Playbook . Her PowerPoint slides from the webinar can be found here. The playbook provides specific steps that counties, Tribes, municipalities, and water providers should take before, during, and within the first 30-days of a fire to facilitate recovery.
The Second Guest Speaker was Nick Holloway of Missoula County, MT’s Office of Emergency Management. Nick’s presentation focussed on the importance of Community Organizations Active in Disaster in assisting with community response and recovery following disastrous events such as wildfires.
